Overview

LG's Standard line is its price-led R-32 wall unit. The 9k is 18 SEER2 and 8.7 HSPF2 (AHRI 214931165), 9,000 BTU cooling and 10,900 BTU heating, and heats down to 5°F. At about $899, that makes it one of the cheapest 9k systems from a major brand with a 10-year term. It is 230V only, so a 115V swap-in for a window unit is not an option; the Mega 9k has a 115V sibling. The outdoor unit is 55 lb and runs at 50 dB, the indoor unit at 21 to 42 dB. It suits a mild-climate bedroom, a sunroom or a garage office.

  • $899 for the pair
  • 10-year warranty term
  • Light 55 lb outdoor unit

Cold-weather output

No current listing on NEEP's cold-climate heat pump list (checked October 8, 2026). LG rates it to keep running down to 5°F; without a listing there's no certified 5°F capacity figure to check that claim against.

Questions buyers ask

Is $899 for the whole system, and what is missing?+

The $899 covers the indoor and outdoor units. The line set is not included, with 15 to 50 ft sets sold separately, and installation is extra. The outdoor unit is pre-charged for a 24.6 ft line set.

Can it heat a bedroom through a cold winter?+

No certified 5°F figure is published for this model. LG lists heating down to 5°F, and the rating point is 10,900 BTU at 47°F with an 8.7 HSPF2. Below about 5°F plan on backup heat, or step up to an LGRED.

Can I run it on a 115V outlet?+

No, this model is 230V only, on a 10 to 15 A breaker. The Mega 9k has a 115V sibling if a standard circuit is all you have.

What is the 10-year warranty conditional on?+

A licensed installer and registration within 60 days. A homeowner install is the usual way this coverage gets lost. Check that your installer will register the unit.

Is the Mega 9k worth the extra money?+

The Mega costs $1,143, which is $244 more than this unit, and rates 21 SEER2 and 9.2 HSPF2 against 18 and 8.7. Both stop heating at 5°F. For a seldom-used guest room the Standard is enough; for daily use the Mega's efficiency adds up.
