What this site collects

Logs

Each request leaves a line in the web server’s log: IP address, page, time, referrer and browser user-agent. The logs are for keeping the site up and finding faults. Nobody profiles you from them, and they are not sold or passed on.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics counts which pages get read, roughly where readers are, and which links get followed. You can switch it off with Google’s opt-out add-on or any tracker blocker; every page works the same without it.

What is kept in your browser

Only the analytics cookies. The systems you tick for comparison live in the page address, so a comparison can be shared as a link, and nothing else is stored. There are no accounts, no newsletter, no comments and no ad network.

Amazon links

minisplitcompare.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. A “Check price on Amazon” link sets an Amazon cookie, and qualifying purchases made afterwards earn this site a commission at no cost to you. Many systems here are sold only through contractors and carry no link. Commissions have no bearing on which systems are listed, how lists are sorted, or what the catches and owner complaints say.

Children

This is an equipment reference for adults. It is not aimed at children under 13 and collects nothing from them knowingly.
