Overview

The 18k version of Fujitsu's compact cassette keeps the same 22-7/16 inch square body and grille but moves up to 21.9 SEER2, 12.6 EER2 and 11.3 HSPF2, with 20,100 BTU of cooling and 23,900 BTU of heating at the listed point. It is aimed at open living areas or shop spaces of around 750 sq ft where a pair of 9k wall heads would be needed otherwise. At about $4,300 it costs roughly $1,200 more than the 12k and about $800 more than the Daikin FFA18 cassette, but rates 3.7 SEER2 higher than the Daikin and heats down to -5°F on the Fujitsu's published range. Wi-Fi remains an optional Airstage accessory.

  • 23,900 BTU heating
  • ~750 sq ft

Cold-weather output

No current listing on NEEP's cold-climate heat pump list (checked October 8, 2026). Fujitsu General rates it to keep running down to -5°F; without a listing there's no certified 5°F capacity figure to check that claim against.

Questions buyers ask

When does the 18k cassette make sense over the 12k?+

When a room needs more than 12,000 BTU but a cassette is still wanted. It costs $4,286 against $3,086 for the 12k.

Can the 18k cassette reuse a 12k lineset?+

No. It takes a 1/4 x 1/2 inch lineset (up to 98 ft), one size larger on the suction side than the 12k's 3/8 inch.

Is it NEEP certified for cold-climate use?+

No. It is not listed, so there is no certified capacity or COP at 5°F, though the maker's floor is -5°F. HSPF2 is 11.3.

What does Fujitsu require for the long warranty?+

Fujitsu's base term is 5 years on parts and 7 on the compressor. A licensed-contractor install registered online within 60 days raises it to 10 years on both, and a Fujitsu Elite contractor install to 12, so a self-install gives up the longer coverage.
