Best forA four-room house in a moderate-to-cold climate that may mix wall and ducted heads.

Overview

Fujitsu's four-port R-32 multi covers 25,000 to 46,000 BTU of connected indoor capacity, which is enough for a small house with four bedrooms or a mix of bedrooms and one larger living space. AHRI-certified at 22.0 SEER2 and 10.0 HSPF2 with wall heads (19.0 and 9.0 with all-ducted heads), it is NEEP-listed with 24,000 BTU/h at 5°F, about 66% of the 36,400 BTU/h rating at 47°F. Heating operation is rated from 5°F up. It is one of the few four-port condensers that also takes slim-duct and cassette heads, so a basement can be ducted while bedrooms get wall units. At about $7,300 for the condenser and four 9k heads it sits near the Daikin 4MXM36 and below any Mitsubishi H2i four-zone setup.

  • Four ports, 230 ft line allowance
  • 24,000 BTU/h at 5°F (NEEP)
  • Connects up to 130% of capacity

Cold-weather output

At 5°F it still makes 66% of its rated heat, according to the certified NEEP listing for this pairing. Fujitsu General rates it to keep running down to 5°F.

Questions buyers ask

Can this 4-zone handle a cold-climate home?+

NEEP lists 36,400 BTU at 47°F and 24,000 BTU at 5°F, about 67% of the 36,000 nameplate, with COP 2.2. Fujitsu's floor is 5°F and it is not ENERGY STAR cold climate certified. It suits moderate winters better than the 2-zone AOUH18KWAS2, which keeps 94%.

How many heads and how much piping?+

It connects up to 130% of its capacity in indoor units, with 230 ft of line set allowed. The outdoor unit weighs 128 lb net.

What do the warranty terms require?+

10 years parts and compressor needs a licensed-contractor install registered within 60 days. Units bought online are excluded.

Why choose it over four separate singles?+

One outdoor unit instead of four saves wall and yard space, and a single electrical run feeds it. Four singles let each room fail independently.

What is in the $7,300 price?+

The condenser plus four 9k ASUH09KPAS wall heads. Line sets and labor are extra.
