Best forHomes that need a longer lineset run to a 1.5-ton head and have a licensed installer and a plan to register for warranty.
The Advantage 18k is MRCOOL's lowest-priced professional 1.5-ton wall mount: $1,312 for a pair rated 19.2 SEER2, 10.8 EER2 and 9.6 HSPF2 (7.5 in region V), with a heating capacity listed at 18,800 BTU against 18,000 for cooling. It uses R-454B, built-in Wi-Fi with the SmartHVAC app, and a 5-speed indoor head that runs from 19 to 50.5 dBA. Next to the Senville Leto 18k ($970, 19.2 SEER2, 8.7 HSPF2) the Advantage has the better heating number but costs about $340 more; next to the Pioneer Diamante Pro 18k ($1,178, 21.0 SEER2) it is rated lower. Its selling point is the 98 ft lineset limit and MRCOOL's parts network, not a low price or top efficiency.
At 5°F it still makes 61% of its rated heat, according to the certified NEEP listing for this pairing.
Pairing: A-18-HP-C-230D-O with A-18-HP-WMAH-230D-O. Checked October 8, 2026 on NEEP's ccASHP list; a different head or condenser posts different numbers.
The Pioneer is cheaper at about $1,178 against $1,312 and is rated 21.0 SEER2 and 9.5 HSPF2 against 19.2 and 9.6. The MRCOOL has built-in Wi-Fi, while the Pioneer needs an optional module. The MRCOOL's base warranty is shorter.
MRCOOL publishes no low-ambient floor. NEEP certifies 18,800 BTU at 47°F and 11,500 BTU at 5°F, with a COP of 2.15. At 5°F that is about 61 percent of nameplate, so it is not cold-climate primary heat.
No. The warranty applies only to licensed-contractor installs, and the flare lineset (sold separately) needs nitrogen testing and evacuation. R-454B is mildly flammable (A2L).
It is listed for about 800 sq ft, which suits an open living area. The flare lineset is 1/4 in. liquid and 1/2 in. suction and is sold separately.
