Overview

The 24k Advantage is where MRCOOL's long lineset allowance shows: the spec table lists up to 164 ft between the head and the outdoor unit, far more than the 25 to 50 ft most online brands cover. It is rated 18.7 SEER2, 10.0 EER2 and 9.3 HSPF2 (7.3 in region V), uses R-454B and has Wi-Fi built into the head, and MRCOOL's page claims coverage to 1,200 sq ft. At $1,615 it is priced slightly above the Pioneer Diamante Pro 24k ($1,488, 21.0 SEER2 / 9.5 HSPF2) and it is rated lower. It is a sensible pick when the outdoor unit has to sit a long way from the wall, or when a MRCOOL dealer is the only local support, but not on efficiency per dollar.

  • 164 ft max lineset
  • Up to 1,200 sq ft per MRCOOL

Questions buyers ask

Should I buy the MRCOOL Advantage 24k or the Pioneer Diamante Pro 24k?+

Pioneer is cheaper at about $1,488 against about $1,615 and rated 21.0 SEER2 against MRCOOL's 18.7. The Pioneer's warranty is up to 5 years. The MRCOOL includes Wi-Fi and lists a larger 1,200 sq ft coverage.

What is the winter capacity?+

NEEP certifies 24,000 BTU at 47°F and 17,000 BTU at 5°F, a COP of 2.14. MRCOOL does not publish a low-ambient floor. That is about 71 percent of nameplate at 5°F.

What does installation require?+

A licensed contractor, with a 3/8 in. liquid and 5/8 in. suction flare lineset sold separately. R-454B (A2L) needs a trained tech.

Is the warranty long?+

No. Its base is 2 years parts and 1 year compressor, according to MRCOOL's page. A lifetime replacement option requires registering within 60 days and the paid MRCOOL Care plan.
