Best forLarge open spaces or outbuildings where the outdoor unit must sit far from the head and a licensed installer is available.
The Advantage 36k is MRCOOL's three-ton single-head wall mount, rated 18.0 SEER2, 9.0 EER2 and 8.5 HSPF2 (6.8 in region V) with R-454B and built-in Wi-Fi. Its standout number is the lineset allowance: 213 ft between the head and the outdoor unit, the longest lineset allowance of any wall mount in this catalog. Against the Pioneer Diamante Pro 36k ($2,198, 19.0 SEER2 / 9.0 HSPF2) and the Senville Leto 36k ($2,070, 18.0 / 8.5) it is the most expensive of the three and matches the Leto on efficiency. MRCOOL lists coverage to 1,550 sq ft, with the outdoor unit at 60.5 dBA and the indoor head at 44.5 dBA at its quietest. It needs a licensed installer for the warranty, a 35 A breaker and 5/8 in. gas line, and buyers pay for the reach of the lineset rather than for the rating.
At 5°F it still makes 59% of its rated heat, according to the certified NEEP listing for this pairing.
Pairing: A-36-HP-C-230D-O with A-36-HP-WMAH-230D-O. Checked October 8, 2026 on NEEP's ccASHP list; a different head or condenser posts different numbers.
The Advantage 36k is a 3-ton single-zone for a big open area, while the Easy Pro 24k at $2,109 is DIY-installable and cheaper. The Advantage costs $2,322 but needs a licensed contractor, flare lineset work and nitrogen testing. Choose it only if the load really needs 36,000 BTU in one zone.
Poorly suited. NEEP lists 36,000 BTU at 47°F but 21,400 BTU at 5°F, about 59% of nameplate, with COP 1.8, and it is not ENERGY STAR cold climate certified. MRCOOL does not publish a low-ambient floor, so treat it as a mild-winter unit or plan backup heat.
No. MRCOOL's limited warranty applies only to systems installed by a state-certified or licensed HVAC contractor. The flare lineset is sold separately and needs nitrogen testing and evacuation.
Quite. MRCOOL's page lists 2 years parts and 1 year compressor, and a limited lifetime replacement only if you register within 60 days and enroll in the paid MRCOOL Care program within 4 months of install. Retailer pages disagree on which of parts or compressor gets 2 years, so confirm before buying.
