Overview

At 24,000 BTU and about 1,000 sq ft, this is the biggest single-zone Perfect Aire kit sold with Quick Connect fittings. It carries the highest efficiency of the three sizes in the R-454B family, 22.5 SEER2 with a 9.5 HSPF2, and NEEP's listing shows 19,800 BTU/h at 5°F against a 24,000 BTU/h rating at 47°F, about 82%. That is a better cold-weather hold than MRCOOL's Easy Pro 24k manages (17,000 BTU/h of a 25,000 BTU/h rating), though the Easy Pro costs a little less. It is a candidate for a big open room, an addition or a detached garage where a contractor's quote would add $2,000 or more to the equipment cost. The usual trade applies: precharged lines make the install simple and the lineset length inflexible.

  • 19,800 BTU/h at 5°F (NEEP)
  • Precharged, no vacuum pump

Cold-weather output

At 5°F it still makes 83% of its rated heat, according to the certified NEEP listing for this pairing. Perfect Aire rates it to keep running down to -4°F.

Strengths and catches

Strengths

  • +NEEP lists 19,800 BTU/h of maximum heat at 5°F, about 82% of its 24,000 BTU/h 47°F rating
  • +22.5 SEER2 is the highest certified figure in Perfect Aire's current quick-connect line
  • +No vacuum pump or gauge set needed
  • +Energy Star cold-climate flag in the NEEP listing

Catches

  • −The 25 ft precharged lineset cannot be extended or shortened
  • −About 121 lb condenser and a 35A maximum fuse need a proper pad and panel space
  • −HSPF2 of 9.5 is modest next to the 22.5 SEER2, so cooling efficiency leads and heating does not
  • −Brand has a small installer base, so non-DIY help is harder to find than for MRCOOL

Questions buyers ask

Is the 24k Quick Connect still a one-person DIY job?+

The refrigerant side is, since the 25 ft lineset is precharged R-454B with no pump or gauges. The condenser weighs about 121 lb, so lifting it onto a pad or bracket takes two people.

Is the 24k harder on the electrical panel than the 18k?+

A 230V circuit with a 35A maximum fuse. That is a step up from the 18k's 30A, so check panel capacity first.

How much heat does it have at 5°F?+

NEEP lists 24,000 BTU at 47°F and 19,800 BTU at 5°F, about 83% of nameplate, with COP 1.84. The maker's low-ambient rating is -4°F and it is ENERGY STAR cold climate listed.

Should I pick this or the MRCOOL Easy Pro 24k?+

The Perfect Aire costs $2,350 against $2,109 for the Easy Pro. It keeps 19,800 BTU at 5°F against 17,000, ships a 25 ft lineset instead of 11.5 ft, and carries 7 years of parts and compressor coverage. The Easy Pro is the cheaper choice for milder winters.
