Overview

The same MFZ-KX12NL floor console as the Hyper-Heat version, paired here with the standard SUZ-AA12NL condenser. It rates 19.6 SEER2 and 8.7 HSPF2 with 12,000 BTU of cooling and 15,000 BTU of heating, and heats down to -4°F. That heating figure is the compromise: 8.7 HSPF2 is a long way below the 10 you get with the HZ condenser, so this version fits a mild or mixed climate rather than a cold one. It saves about $640 over the Hyper-Heat pairing and shares the Comfort-app Wi-Fi and the low-discharge airflow that makes console units comfortable in sunrooms and basements. Compared with the Fujitsu AGUH12 it is dearer and less efficient but carries Mitsubishi's dealer network.

  • 15,000 BTU heating
  • About $640 under the Hyper-Heat console

Cold-weather output

At 5°F it still makes 52% of its rated heat, according to the certified NEEP listing for this pairing. Mitsubishi Electric rates it to keep running down to -4°F.

  • +19.6 SEER2 for cooling-dominated use
  • +15,000 BTU heating output from a 12k unit

Catches

  • −8.7 HSPF2 is weak for cold-climate heating
  • −Still roughly $3,700 before labor
  • −Fujitsu AGUH12 is cheaper and rates 25 SEER2

Questions buyers ask

How is this different from the Hyper-Heat floor mount?+

The standard version costs $3,722 against $4,364 and has higher SEER2 (19.6 against 17.2) but lower HSPF2 (8.7 against 10). Its NEEP capacity drops to 7,800 BTU at 5°F against 15,000 for the Hyper-Heat.

Can it be primary heat?+

In a cold climate, no. NEEP lists 15,000 BTU at 47°F and 7,800 BTU at 5°F, about 52%, with COP 2.29. The maker's floor is -4°F, the same as every standard SUZ-AA12NL pairing.

What does the 10-year term require on the standard console?+

Standard is 5-year parts and 7-year compressor. 10 years requires a licensed contractor and online registration.
